Installation & Service Instruction
1,Confirm fitment by engine CPL / serial and existing pump tag (5588790F preferred for Euro VI 3.8 L builds; 5525373/5302892 for earlier Euro V variants).
2, Drain engine oil, disconnect battery, remove front timing cover access panel to expose pump drive gear.
3, Unbolt old pump (typically 4–6 M6/M8 flange bolts), note locating pin orientation, disconnect oil pickup tube if integral.
4, Clean mating surface on cylinder block; use genuine gasket or OE-spec silicone gasket-do not paper-thin shim stack.
5, Seat new 5588790F assembly on locating pin, hand-start bolts, torque to Cummins ISF3.8 spec (flange bolts ~24–30 N·m, verify with current shop manual).
6, Reconnect pickup/strainer, prime pump by pre-filling cavity with clean CK-4 / Euro VI diesel engine oil.
7, Refill crankcase, start engine, idle 5 min, check for leaks and oil pressure:
Idle (~700 rpm): 1.8–2.2 bar
Rated speed: 3.0–4.5 bar, fluctuation ≤0.2 bar
8, Run heat cycle to operating temp, re-check torque of pickup bolts and pump flange after first 50 h if used in off-highway duty.
