Diaphragm Spring Brake Chamber 20533195 9254310950

The brake chamber is a circular container separated by a flexible diaphragm. Air pressure pushes the diaphragm away from the pressure source, forcing the push rod outward toward the slack adjuster. The force generated by this movement depends on the air pressure and the size of the diaphragm.

Service Brake Chamber:
Operating Principle: Air pressure enters the chamber, pushing the diaphragm and push rod to engage the brakes. When the air pressure is released, the return spring retracts the push rod, disengaging the brakes. Air pressure is used to apply and release the brakes during normal driving.
Construction: Typically includes a diaphragm, push rod, and return spring.

Spring Brake Chamber:
Operating Principle: During normal driving, air pressure is applied to the spring brake portion, keeping the spring compressed and thus operating the service brakes. This chamber combines the functions of a service brake chamber and a parking/emergency brake.
Construction: Consists of two parts: the service brake portion (similar to the service brake chamber) and the spring brake portion.
