A hydrogen fuel cell truck testing project has been launched in Brazil

In the early morning of August 16, 2025, Great Wall Motors' Brazilian plant was officially completed and put into production. Brazilian President Lula, Vice President Alckmin, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Zhu Qingqiao, the Brazilian Minister of Labor, and other dignitaries, along with relevant Great Wall Motors officials and other guests, attended the ceremony to witness this significant moment.

The hydrogen heavy-duty truck, whose core hydrogen power system is provided by Weishi Energy, officially debuted.

The project will be carried out in phases, focusing on three key areas: First, verifying the performance and stability of the hydrogen fuel cell system in Brazil's complex environment, focusing on collecting data on the impact of temperature, altitude, road type, and driving conditions on system efficiency; second, testing the vehicle's adaptability to different hydrogen sources, such as electrolytic hydrogen (green hydrogen) and ethanol reforming, and conducting technical adaptation research based on the local energy structure, transportation needs, and infrastructure; third, accumulating data on Brazilian driving habits to identify areas for technical improvement, providing a basis for local optimization and ultimately commercial feasibility demonstration. Furthermore, the project will facilitate knowledge transfer through university-enterprise collaboration, helping to enhance Brazil's local hydrogen energy technology R&D capabilities and lay a solid foundation for the commercial application of hydrogen fuel cell trucks in the country. Meanwhile, Weishi Energy's collaboration with Brazilian industry chain partners in diverse areas, such as hydrogen ships and combined heat and power, is steadily progressing. This will gradually advance hydrogen energy applications from single vehicles to a comprehensive ecosystem encompassing production, storage, transmission, and utilization. This will help foster a coordinated layout and synergistic effects across multiple "transportation + energy" scenarios in the region, accelerate the development of Brazil's hydrogen energy industry ecosystem, and provide benchmark experience for the cross-regional application of global hydrogen energy technologies, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of "Made in China" on the global stage.

China's heavy-duty truck market share in Brazil is expected to gradually increase, and the future of heavy-duty truck parts in Brazil is promising.
